Eastleigh Brings In Ex-Portsmouth Striker Hawkins
Eastleigh has made a significant addition to their lineup by signing Oliver Hawkins on a permanent deal. The 34-year-old striker, who recently completed pre-season training with the Spitfires after leaving Barnet in the previous season, is set to bring his wealth of experience and physical presence to the club.
Hawkins, known for his height at six-foot-six, has accumulated an impressive 298 League appearances during his career. His last stint was a three-season spell with Portsmouth, where he played in League One and contributed significantly, including scoring the winning penalty in their EFL Trophy victory over Sunderland.
Hawkins' Vision for Eastleigh
Speaking to club media, Hawkins expressed his enthusiasm about returning to National League football after a hiatus. He stated, 'It's been a while since I played National League but it will be very similar to League Two. For myself, it’s looking to start enjoying it again. Playing as much as possible, staying injury free, and helping this club to do as well as it can in this league to hopefully fight for promotion.'
Hawkins also highlighted the club's training environment and management experience, saying, 'Training with Eastleigh at the moment, I see a lot of the capabilities that we've got and the manager's experience of getting promoted out of the league before.' His arrival is expected to bolster Eastleigh’s attack and provide a veteran presence in the team.
With Hawkins' addition, Eastleigh aims to strengthen their bid for promotion from the National League, leveraging his goal-scoring prowess and leadership qualities.
