Eastleigh's Unwrapped festival returns this weekend, bringing live performances, circus acts, and family-friendly activities to the town. The event, which takes place at Leigh Road Recreation Ground and Greta Park, celebrates 30 years of The Point's arts and culture initiatives. Since launching in 2013, Unwrapped has become a highlight of the local events calendar, bringing outdoor arts, live performances, music, dance, theatre, and creative activities directly into local communities. This year's celebrations are especially significant, marking three decades of The Point championing arts, culture, and creativity across the Borough. Over the years, The Point has become a valued cultural hub for residents, supporting artists, inspiring young people, and making high-quality arts experiences accessible to communities through events, workshops, performances, and festivals such as Unwrapped. One of the headline performances for the main festival event in Eastleigh will feature Up in the Sky by Autin Dance Theatre, a breathtaking aerial dance production supported by a local community cast. Created especially for Eastleigh, the bespoke performance combines storytelling, movement, and visual spectacle, bringing an unforgettable experience. Charlotte Cassey, Artistic Director at The Point, said: 'Unwrapped is all about bringing communities together through creativity and shared experiences. As The Point celebrates 30 years, it feels especially meaningful to continue delivering free events that are accessible, welcoming, and inspiring for residents of all ages.' The festival continues across three locations, giving communities throughout the Borough the chance to take part in the celebrations and experience the unique atmosphere that has made Unwrapped a highlight of the local events calendar. The first pop-up event took place last Saturday at Netley Abbey Cricket Ground, Netley, before the festival heads to Eastleigh and Hedge End for two larger main festival events. Main Festival: Saturday 6 June, 10am–5pm Location: Leigh Road Recreation Ground, Eastleigh Main Festival: Sunday 7 June, 10am–5pm Location: Greta Park, Hedge End Across all three events, residents can enjoy live performances, circus acts, family walkabouts, music, sustainable art workshops, and creative activities for all ages, as The Point celebrates 30 years of bringing arts and culture into the heart of local communities.
