Eastleigh fell to a 2-1 defeat away to Sutton United at Gander Green Lane on Tuesday, ending their three-match unbeaten run. The result leaves the Spitfires 14th in the National League with 11 points from their opening eight games.

Sutton, who had lost their previous three league matches, took control early. Emmanuel Osadebe opened the scoring for the hosts in the 17th minute, finishing from Temi Babalola's pass. Just five minutes later, Babalola's powerful shot was pushed onto the post by Eastleigh goalkeeper David-Jeffries, but Brandon Njoku was quickest to react and tapped in the rebound.

Eastleigh improved after the break and pulled a goal back through Hady Ghandour in the 57th minute, the forward finishing neatly after a pass from A. Blair. The Spitfires pushed for an equaliser and were awarded a penalty deep into injury time, but the spot-kick was saved by the Sutton goalkeeper to preserve the home side's lead. The closing stages saw several yellow cards shown following a challenge by Joe Knight.

The defeat extends Eastleigh's recent form to one win, two draws and two losses from their last five outings.
