Eastleigh have completed the signing of defender Ibrahim Bakare on a permanent deal. The 24-year-old centre-back joins the Spitfires after a spell with League Two side Cheltenham Town.
What happened?
Bakare made 31 league appearances for Cheltenham following his arrival in August 2024. He left Cheltenham in February 2026, having also gained National League experience during a loan spell with Gateshead, making seven appearances for the Heed last season.
Why it matters for Eastleigh
The defender began his professional career with Morecambe, signing his first contract at the age of 17 before later moving to Cardiff City. During his time in South Wales, Bakare featured for Cardiff's under-23 side and regularly captained the team.
What comes next?
Upon joining the Spitfires, Bakare said: “The manager has been really adamant on me coming down here and making sure that I get the best out of my football and maximise my potential.”
